Quotes by Toni Sorenson

When your lover is your best friend…then you know you’re one of the few and the fortunate.

A friend is someone who makes you a better version of yourself just by being who they are. Their existence is your inspiration.

When you’re rearranging the furniture to make way for the decorations and the tree, make sure you rearrange your heart to make room for the Savior of Mankind.

Jesus was a hiker. The wilderness was His retreat.

The word surrender has some shadowy connotations. We think it’s weak to surrender, but sometimes it’s the bravest thing we can possibly do. It means to give our will over to another . . . and when that other is Christ, we are surrendering our pride, our self-reliance, our will to do things our way. We trust Him more than we trust ourselves. The origin of the word surrender did not mean to give up, but to give over. We give our will over to God, let Him do what He will with it, and in the process we lose nothing, but gain much.

Be honest with the Lord. If you’re afraid, say so. If you’re feeling abandoned, tell Him. He already knows every sin you’ve committed and He loves you anyway. Confess honestly. Beg for help. Converse with the Lord in reverence and respect, but not as if you were approaching a distant, uncaring being. Nothing could be further from the truth. All you have to do is reach out to feel the grasp of Christ’s hand.

The world teaches us to be self-sufficient, self-reliant, self-motivating. But anytime we put self before Savior, we’re in trouble

If Christ is missing from your life, it isn’t because He is lost.

Let’s not beat around the bush. Life is one great big wonderful but terrifying adventure. It can be as brutal as it is beautiful. There are no do-overs. We get a single shot to make it home. And guess what? We all wander and find ourselves lost from time to time. Enter our Savior. The One whose love and power to heal and example to guide is so magnificent that our frail human minds can’t begin to comprehend.

Authentic kindness has a power greater than rock, paper and scissors combined.

Life tends to deliver on what we order…so when you think I’m worthless, you get a life fitting what thought. When you think I’m fabulous…you get that.

An attitude is much deeper than just our emotions or the thoughts we think. It’s a decision we make based on our core beliefs and values.

Always be aware of what you are thinking. Pay attention to your thoughts because they drive the direction of your life.

We’ve all got voices inside our heads and over time they blend into a mental orchestra that all sounds the same. This is where we assume every voice we hear is our own even though that is not true.

Walking a mile in someone elses shoes isnt as much about the walk or the shoes; its to be able to think like they think, feel what they feel, and understand why they are who and where they are. Every step is about empathy.

The only way to make a great thought great is to share it.

We are designed for harmony, an ebb and flow that’s almost inconceivable it’s so flawless. So when things go wrong and our cells can’t communicate with each other, or there is miscommunication, there is a direct biological link to why we don’t think clearly, we don’t feel right, and our lives get stalled. It happens when a child gets abused. It happens when a brain gets physically wounded. It happens when fear or pain is so great it overrides everything else. It happens during times of prolonged stress. It happens in the throes of depression. It happens when the brain gets pounded with negativity. And sometimes we just don’t know why the wires in our brains get crossed.

When neurons “talk” to each other clearly, our brain is able to make sense of our lives. We make our wisest decisions when there is nothing obstructing these lines of communication.

All truly toxic thoughts are expelled while moving. Gotta move to stay alive.

When negative thinking changes, everything changes.
