Quotes by Shia LaBeouf

“I understand why marriages break up over golf. I cant even talk about my own handicap because its too upsetting.”

“People think that their vote counts. They go to college, and everything gets mixed up. People stop caring, ... They raise the gas prices, but what the Everyman makes and welfare never seem to keep up. The HMO system is so ridiculous. Im slightly educated. No one wants to hear what Hilary Duff thinks of the economy.”

“Matt Damon in Bagger Vance trained for a week,”

“Its like a mockumentary about how ... penguins started surfing, and how they started the sport.”

“Like, what do you say? Do you say Hey man! Or would you say Hey peng? Like, to be with Jeff Bridges, first of all, is a trip. Sitting with Jeff Bridges talking about how to be a penguin, its like insane.”

“Yeah, I liked Madagascar , but March is more of a help, because this is the first animation done like documentary-style. Its also the first animation where everythings pretty much ad-libbed. All the dialogues ad-libbed. Its groundbreaking. Its pretty cool.”

“All these animators are in there, and they go like [gasps], because its like a new thing, ... Its never been done like that before.”

“Its kind of a self-help book for the hood, if there is such a thing,”

“A lot of people like to think that golf is a lazy mans sport, ... Or its a rich mans sport, or its a sport that they cant be involved in. But they dont know Francis story, which is why the movie was made in the first place: To bring back this amazing tale so that people could be educated about how interesting it was. When golf used to be a rich mans sport, if you were poor you could not step foot on a course. Francis was a caddy. He grew up across the street from the course, looked up to Harry Vardon (played by Stephen Dillane in the film), this five-time British Open champion — but he was never allowed to play.”

“[Director Bill Paxton] told me to watch The Legend of Bagger Vance, ... I go watch it, and I come back and he goes, We are not making Bagger Vance.”

The comic book world is a tough business.

I turned down twelve films last year... Huge money films, but I had no respect for the writer or the work.

Ive been in fights, but that doesnt make me cool or like a tough guy or more interesting actor, Im not proud of it.

Theyre very, uh, you know, I dont come from the suburbs and a jolly, Disney type of lifestyle. I come from something totally different. And theyre cool and bare minimum so its not always a money issue for me.

Whats cool is when youre able to give your audience imagination and you dont have to cage them in like animals.

Im a video game fan, and I always thought it would be cool to be able to control a character.

When you look at golf films before us theyre all - garbage or satire. A lot of sports films tend to vilify the opposition. Where the opposition becomes this big angry monster, so big you cant beat him.

Im a little territorial and defensive. I dont like having my space invaded.

Theres something about studying body language and non-spoken emotion - I know the innate response. But to really study it like a science would be fun.

Im not an Adonis, thats for damn sure. Ive never really thought of myself that way, and it doesnt matter to me. My favorite actors arent Adonises. Dustin Hoffman is a flawed-looking man; hes amazing to me. Tom Hanks is flawed-looking; people love him. Same with Gene Hackman.
