“From the movie, The Boy Who Could Fly Somewhere, deep inside, we can all fly.”

“A crisis is a close encounter of the third kind.”

No one rises above who he or she has been without first having fallen down. The best time - in fact, the only time - to make a real change in your life is in the moment of seeing the need for it. He who hesitates always gets lost in the hundred reasons why tomorrow is a better day to get started.

we are not here on earth to change our destiny but to fulfill it.

What possible good does it do to resent any moment for unfolding as it does, to wish it didnt happen? Does it change the moment in any positive way? No it does not.

When we stop blaming the darkness, or ourselves, for having been walking in it, and decide, instead, to thank the Light for showing us the truth of our actual estate... then we turn the corner in our work to awaken conscience.

The secret self knows the anguish of our attachments and assures us that letting go of what we think we must have to be happy is the same as letting go of our unhappiness.

Whats the first sign of a lurking, hidden expectation you didnt know you had? Pain! People dont do what we want, things dont happen quickly enough, the weather doesnt cooperate, our bodies dont cooperate. Why are these moments so painful? Because our minds are focused on a static, unchanging, me-centric picture while the dynamic unfolding of a broader life continues around us. There is nothing wrong with expectations per se, as its appropriate to set goals and work, properly, towards their fruition. But the instant we feel pain over life not going my way, our expectations have clearly taken an improper turn. Any moment you feel resistance or pain, look for -- and then let go of -- the hidden expectation. Practice giving yourself over to what you dont want. Let the line at the store be long. Let the other person interrupt you. Let the nervousness make you shake. Be where your body is, not where your mind is trying to take you.

Being fully present is the best guarantee for a bright future.

The deepest parts of you know that if freedom from fear was as easy as creating a new reality for yourself, then you would already be the fearless person you know in your heart that youre meant to be.

Eventually, we reach the point where we start to realize that we are not going to find peace, contentment, happiness, strength, fearlessness - all of the things that in our heart of hearts we wish we had - outside of us.

Every relationship that we have in our lives - our contact with each person, place, and event - serves a very special, if yet to be realized purpose: They are mirrors that can serve to show us things about ourselves that can be realized in no other way.

We need to see, and agree that what we seek already lives within us, and we within it. Now we know our one great task: watch for whatever promises us freedom, and then quietly, consciously refuse to see ourselves through the eyes of what we know is incomplete. Then we live wholeness itself, instead of spending our lives looking for it.
