Love addicts you to its feeling. You never, ever want to lose that feeling. Sometimes the fear of losing love drives people to do crazy things. Like buy a plane ticket. Make a phone call. Run out of a class. Cry. Write. Laugh.Because when you love someone, you really love them. You give them your whole heart. You trust them. You never want to be away from them. Sometimes, you dont even need their words. You just need them there.Love is such an amazing thing, and too many people take it for granted. If youre in love, dont let it go. Dont you dare let it go.

Life is painful and messed up. It gets complicated at the worst of times, and sometimes you have no idea where to go or what to do. Lots of times people just let themselves get lost, dropping into a wide open, huge abyss. But thats why we have to keep trying. We have to push through all that hurts us, work past all our memories that are haunting us. Sometimes the things that hurt us are the things that make us strongest. A life without experience, in my opinion, is no life at all. And thats why I tell everyone that, even when it hurts, never stop yourself from living.

I choose to write because its perfect for me. Its an escape, a place I can go to hide. Its a friend, when I feel out casted from everyone else. Its a journal, when the only story I can tell is my own. Its a book, when I need to be somewhere else. Its control, when I feel so out of control. Its healing, when everything seems pretty messed up.And its fun, when life is just flat-out boring.

Life is hell, at some point we all just have to get used to it.

You never really know whats coming. A small wave, or maybe a big one. All you can really do is hope that when it comes, you can surf over it, instead of drown in its monstrosity.

Depression weighs you down like a rock in a river. You dont stand a chance. You can fight and pray and hope you have the strength to swim, but sometimes, you have to let yourself sink. Because youll never know true happiness until someone or something pulls you back out of that river--and youll never believe it until you realize it was you, yourself who saved you.

The truth doesnt mind being told every once in a while.

And though I was currently living a fairy tale, some part of my soul knew that happiness couldnt last forever. I didnt deserve a happily ever after, and there werent many other cards to play when that was the truth.

When a poet settled down to write a poem, could he foresee the lines he would write? Did his head constantly spin with riddles and rhymes and was his only job to put them down? What if he couldn’t get them to make sense, and no one, not even the person he cared for most, could have pleasure in reading it? What would he do?

I did not ask for consciousness, yet it came to me.And I had to know.Once again, I crawled away from my bed and pushed the computer cord back into the socket.It took three minutes.I quickly identified myself and put in my password.Then it thought.I wanted to bounce impatiently, but I couldn’t make myself move.At last, I found the internet, and I typed in a name, on the company page, under my account.I searched ‘images’.And there, on the screen in front of me, was the most beautiful person I’d ever seen.I couldn’t stop the tears from welling up and spilling over as I stared back at the smiling face.It couldn’t be him.It was.Derek Erickson.And I was going to kill him.

I felt like some part of my soul was ripped out and put under a microscope for criticizing.

On a second note, though, I have something to say about pain. There are lots of kinds of pain. Pain of smashing your fingers in a car door, pains of loosing a baby, pain of failing a test. But in their own little ways, these pains are all agonizing. Which is sad, and yet, happy, if you really think about it. If we never lost our car keys, or stepped in gum, or had a bad hair day, what kind of people would we be? In a word? Boring. We wouldnt be passionate; we wouldnt know it was exciting to get pregnant, or score an A on a final. So thats why, today at least, I am grateful for pain. Because its part of what makes me the whacky, goofy, jaded, person that I am. Peace.

I was not weak; I did not cry. But it hurt me, more in a kind of refreshing, thrilling way, than a kind of pain that would cripple me and send me away crying. My fingernails dug into the palms of my hands, and my teeth bit into my lips, my knees were locked, but I could not faint.

So many thoughts ran through my head. Most of them contained the same, simply three words so often strung together that it was too much a classic cheese or cliche to say it, but they still had meaning, no matter how many times they had been repeated.

I watched as his eyes–slowly at first–changed from blue to milky white. His skin went pale. And as I heard him take his last breath, I ducked in so my lips hovered at his ear, and whispered, “My name, is Sharden.
