“The effort that Dan puts into motivating the crew, his enthusiasm, and his work ethic energize the entire team, ... He will do anything, stay up all hours, to make the car right. That's a testament to his dedication and his desire to win. His record speaks for itself, and I wish our paths had crossed a lot sooner.”
“He's got really good leadership at home. His mom and dad are good people and they push him hard in academics. But sports have kind have been his motivation to give him a kind of inner strength rather than mom, dad, teacher and coach McLaughlin getting on him. You can see that he wants to do it for himself.”
“I think (Scott County) came in very motivated, tonight. They were upset about losing their last game at Lexington Catholic and they came into this game with a little emotion. They really got after us and we didn't respond whatsoever. I was concerned about the way we practiced the last two days and, to me, that's where it all started.”
“Middle school is a tough age, ... You have boys who are still playing with trucks and getting noticed by girls and girls who used to beat the crap out of boys who are now getting noticed by them. Out here, they're friends who laugh and tease each other and horse around. This is a good group of highly motivated kids.”
“I know we come across looking like the bad guys, but we're looking for a safer way to get a funeral procession from Point A to Point B without getting somebody hurt or killed, ... I think everybody is motivated to see things fixed, and I do believe we're going to be able to come up with some workable protocol.”
“The idea of the all-new FUSE Sports Coupe is a reflection of the boundless limits and creative envelope that embodies all the vital personalization components of a Scion product. Since the launch of Scion three years ago, designers have learned a great deal about what inspires and motivates Scion buyers through its unique vehicle lineup and instilled them into the FUSE.”
“Just passing is not acceptable in our household. We have high expectations and use those tools to motivate, guide, and sometimes when a crisis hits, there have to be things taken away. We don't let it slide, ... It should not be the parent's option, it should not be the student's option to make the decision to go to the athletic field. They must have fulfilled their obligation in the classrooms first.”
Fear motivates, more than love or ambition or joy. Fear is more powerful than anything else in the world. I have spent so long yearning for things—for love, for acceptance—that I do not really need. I need nothing except the submission that comes with fear. I do not know why it took me so long to learn this.
“We kind of slept on them down there. We can't afford to do that this time around; their record speaks for itself. We didn't have a chance down there. Once the ball went up, it seemed like we were down by 10 or 15 points. That just gives us more motivation, more awareness that we can't come out lackadaisical.”
Do women dress for men or women? I’ve always wondered why that eternally provocative question is put in terms of approval - as if the heart of the matter, the answer, were indeed a question of approval by either sex. But the question is never satisfactorily answered because it is incorrectly posed. It’s disapproval, the fear of it, that motivates most women, and with disapproval it doesn’t matter where it comes from.
