“Strategic communication is at the core of effective leadership. Through a leader's use of verbal and written symbols employees are motivated or deflated, informed or confused, productive or apathetic. A leader's ability to carve off the verbal fatand get to the meat of an issue, idea or plan will find success at every turn.”

In one of his puckish moods Saul talked the president of a university into letting him anonymously take an examination being administered to candidates for a doctorate in community organization. "Three of the questions were on the philosophy of and motivations of Saul Alinsky," writes Saul. "I answered two of them incorrectly.

“Ninety-six percent of women in this country expect a diamond when they get engaged. About 40 percent of the diamond market is married people. It's the second diamond for the same girl. People who stay married spend more on diamonds. Most of the time the man is the motivator.”

If a person is not inspiring you positively. There is no reason for you to be around them. You don't need their negativity in your life. There's already too much in the world. Surround yourself with people who are going to uplift you and encourage you to move forward with your dreams and goals.

“You're going to be sore the first few days so mentally you have to get through it. The good thing is that we have a great group of guys who have got each other's backs who watch out for each other and motivate each other.”
